About New Era Forge

A one-person consultancy and a public workshop, run by an engineering educator who would rather show you a working thing than a slide about it.

The founder

New Era Forge is founded and run by Bryant Harrison, an engineering educator with a deep background in CAD, CNC machining, 3D printing, robotics and manufacturing. He has spent years teaching people to make real things with real tools, and that is the attitude he brings to AI: understand the machine, respect its limits, and build something that holds up.

Why "New Era Forge"

Two ideas, deliberately joined. A new era: AI is a step change in what a small team can do, and most businesses have not yet had anyone explain it to them plainly. A forge: a place where useful things are made by hand, with heat and care, from a maker who has actually run the machines. The mark is a sunrise over an anvil.

A consultancy and a workshop

The consulting side helps small and mid-sized businesses in Western Kentucky adopt AI, starting with conversational assistants. The workshop side is the projects hub: apps, teaching sites and tools that are built in the open and put online for anyone to try. The two feed each other. The projects show what the work looks like; the client work keeps the projects honest.

How we work

  • Plain language. If it cannot be explained to the owner, it is not ready.
  • Fit over features. The right tool is the one your staff will still be using in six months.
  • Guardrails first. Every assistant has written rules about what it will not do and when it hands off to a person.
  • Accessible by default. This site and the projects on it are built to WCAG 2.2 AA. One of the projects is an accessibility tool; it would be odd if the site around it were not.
